Local Area
Agrigento was a wealthy trading centre in the ancient world and its Valley of the Temples is a UNESCO world heritage site, representing the most complete set of Greek ruins outside of the Parthenon.
In 1980 a set of 5th century BC tombs was discovered here on the farm containing a very rare copper sawn-necked vase which is now on display in Agrigento's Archaeological Museum.
The nearest beach, San Leone, has a luna park in the summer months and boasts some excellent fish restaurants. Close by are the spectacular beauty of Scala dei Turchi, the golden beaches of Giallonardo and the unspoilt WWF nature reserve at Torresalsa.
Agrigento's centro storico remains intact and is packed with churches and monsateries famous for their cakes, while equally close is Favara, home to the Farm cultural park and art gallery.
